Fukamushi is a type of green tea and can be translated as “long-steamed”.
This means that this tea is steamed 2-3 times longer than a regular sencha, which produces a deeper flavour.
Kabusecha is a tea that has grown in shade for approximately one week before picking.
This causes the tea to have a sweeter and more nuanced taste. Fukamushi Kabusecha is thus a “long-steamed shadow tea”.
Japanese green tea can be enjoyed cold, as well as warm, as these teas have a mild and fresh taste. You can also brew the cold tea in cold water, but the leaves just have to brew for a long time.
This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seicha in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.
