Green tea

Green tea - a world of flavours
Green tea is said to originate from China, but today it is produced in many countries. The tea is made from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis shrub. This shrub is used for most types of tea. The difference lies in when the tea is picked and how the leaves are subsequently processed.

This means that you get significantly different teas in terms of substance, colour and flavour. The tea leaves do not undergo an oxidisation process, such as Black tea. You are therefore closer to the immediate flavour of the tea leaves. There are many different types of green tea and there can be a big difference in both flavour and quality. So it's a matter of trial and error to find the tea that best suits you and your taste.

When we import tea, we require that the tea is produced responsibly. The EU requirements for imported tea, both organic and conventionally grown, are the strictest in the world, and therefore our focus is more on creating good conditions for the producers, so we can ensure the survival of the producers who produce quality tea responsibly.
What you need to know about green tea
This places greater demands on storage as green tea does not tolerate heat or oxygenation and is very little processed. The tea is therefore more delicate with a shorter shelf life. The tea will lose some of its flavour. Therefore, it is important that the tea is stored in a cool place, possibly in a refrigerator, in an airtight container. When buying tea, it's important that you get expert advice from your tea retailer so that you come home with a good quality product.

How do you ensure you get green tea without pesticides?
The EU has strict requirements for the tea that is exported. Therefore, you are very much guaranteed good products. You can always buy Organic tea to avoid pesticides, but when it comes to tea, it's mainly the large industrialised producers that are eco-certified. It therefore says nothing about the quality of the product and whether the tea is produced responsibly. If you have wishes and requirements for the tea you're going to drink, ask your tea retailer to make sure you know what kind of product you're bringing home.
