Hibiscus has a tart, cranberry-like flavour. Hibiscus is a common flower in many countries and cultures where it is enjoyed hot or cold. It should always be poured over hot water to extract the flavour and aroma from the dried leaves, it is not suitable for cold brewing.

Hibiscus can be sweetened with fruit or herbs such as mint. A cold hibiscus drink can also be mixed with mineral water to make it fresh and sparkling.

Hibiscus is a flower native to temperate, subtropical and tropical regions.

Can be enjoyed hot and cold.

Description

Preparation

Hibiscus is brewed in a preheated jug.

Do not boil the water for a long time, as you boil the oxygen out of the water.

Use 1 tsp. flowers per cup, approx. 2 grams.

Pour 80-95 degrees hot water over the flowers.

Pull time: 3 - 4 minutes.

As the flowers give best results by floating freely, you can use a spacious strainer in the preheated teapot or pour the tea into a preheated teapot.

Store in a dry and cool place.
