Hojicha consists primarily of twigs that have been roasted over charcoal.
The twigs have been separated from the leaf tissue used for Sencha tea. The twigs have a rustic appearance and are an easy tea to make as it is not so sensitive to temperature.
The twigs have a soft and round flavour and the roasting adds a nutty taste.

Hojicha is a very popular food tea in Japan as it is both sweet and refreshing. It's a really nice autumn tea to warm up with.

This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seichaen in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.

Hojicha is also suitable as a cold brew iced tea, using about 1 tablespoon of tea to 1.5 litres of water. Steeping time approx. 2-3 hours. Can be refrigerated for 2-3 days.
