This cultivar is valued for its balanced flavour profile, combining sweetness, umami (taste) and a hint of astringency.

Tamakawa is part of Sing Tehus' special blend Hokkyokusei, which consists of 5 cultivars. Hokkyokusei is a gift to Sing Tehus from tea master Yuta Hiraoka, who holds the highest level in tea blending in Japan.
