This Organic Sencha comes from the southern tip of Kagoshima in Japan.
Kagoshima in the south of Japan is known for its tea production, especially the production of organic tea, in which it is a leader. Here the soil is mineral and the active Sakurajima volcano has a strong impact on the surrounding nature.
Organic Sencha Orita is from the tea producer Oritaen and the carefully selected tea leaves are from the first harvest of the year where the best leaves are found. The tea is a blend of two tea cultivars, Okumidori and Kanayamidori, which gives the tea a rich flavour with good umami and more complexity reminiscent of baby cabbage, seaweed and asparagus.
