Barley tea (mugicha) is an old tradition in Japan when you need a beverage that is gentle and refreshing. This mugi-cha is from Hida, located in Gifu.
Hida mugi-cha is an exquisite barley tea, as the producer has a long tradition of making this tea with the utmost care. The barley kernels overwinter in the snow where the kernels ripen, enhancing the sweetness of the kernels. Hida mugi-cha also has a popular flavour, which is attributed to the unique sand roasting process it undergoes to create the final product.
Normally barley grains are roasted in a pan, but Hida mugi-cha undergoes a traditional sand roasting, which is a more meticulous process.
The barley grains are slowly roasted in drums with sand, giving the tea a rich aroma and fragrance and a beautiful golden colour.
This mugi-cha is sliced seeds packed in a tea leaf so you can make an extract in cold water. It is packed at 10 grams per tea leaf and there are 10 tea leaves in a pack.
Ingredients: barley.
