Kukicha with yuzu

Kukicha with yuzu, Kagoshima / Japan.

Kukicha, or twig tea, is from Japan and is a blend of twigs and some leaves from the tea bush.
In this version of kukicha, the citrus fruit yuzu contributes citrus notes that also provide deep orange/grapefruit and mint flavours.

Kagoshima is located on the southernmost tip of the island of Kyushu in southern Japan, the soil is mineral-rich and the active Sakurajima volcano has a strong impact on the surrounding nature.

Kukicha with yuzu can be brewed in a medium-sized pot.

Use 3-4 grams of tea (two small teaspoons) for 400 ml of water.
Water temperature: 80-85 degrees.
1st brew: 1.5 minutes.
2nd brew: 30 seconds.
