Hojicha is a toasted green tea With a sweet and nutty flavour. An underrated Japanese tea that makes a great evening tea.
Hojicha consists of a large proportion of twigs and leaves, which are basically leftover leaves and twigs from the production of gyokuro and sencha, where the coarse parts of the leaf are sorted out. These twigs and leaves are still flavourful and delicate and are therefore used in a process where they are roasted and turned into Hojicha.
Light, clear, nutty flavour.
This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seichaen in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.

Description

Preparation of green roasted tea Hojicha

Use 80-90 degrees hot water when cooking toasted Green tea Hojicha
Do not boil the water for a long time, as you boil the oxygen out of the water.
Use the tea leaf several times.
Pull time:
1st brew: 1.5 - 2 minutes
2nd brew: 2 - 2.5 minutes.

Store in a dry and cool place.
