Hakusan Porcelain Co, Ltd. was founded in 1779 in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, and has existed in its current form since 1958.

The town of Hasami has a 400-year tradition of pottery production and many companies are still active, mainly producing teacups and teapots. The local porcelain is known for its translucency and whiteness. Designer Masahiro Mori, one of Japan's most renowned figures in design, has been designing the Hakusan line for the past 40 years, making Hakusan the leading porcelain manufacturer in post-war Japan. The company has a long history of producing high quality porcelain products and has been awarded "Good Design" and "Long Life Design" awards. Hakusan porcelain is an example of the simple elegance of Japanese design.
