These delicate silver coloured needles (yin zhen 银针) is covered in soft white fur (bai hao 白毫), which is rich in amino acids, making the tea particularly fresh. The needles open like a flower when steeped in hot water, releasing the gentle purity of the Zhenghe Dabai cultivar.
The slight acidity that characterises a very early harvest quickly disappears, leaving a softness and creamy aftertaste. The silvery hues of the needles change to warmer, golden colours that characterise this tea. In subsequent brews, an increasingly intense floral flavour of roses, thyme and linden honey emerges.
