Sencha is the most popular tea in Japan. A good quality sencha has a deep green colour and an almost “juicy” green tea flavour. Japanese sencha is an everyday luxury, as it leaves a nice relaxing effect and a complete taste.

Over a third of all the tea produced in Japanese tea plantations is sencha.

Sencha is available in many variants, but the production of high quality is a fine process. The leaves are steamed and dried several times producing a sweet round tang. Finally, the leaves are hand-sorted, where twigs and rough leaves are removed.

Sencha is brewed in a small preheated teapot where the leaves should be able to flow freely thereby giving their best taste

The water must not boil for a long time, as it boils the oxygen out of the water.

  • Serve 1 tsp. tea per cup.
  • Add water at 75 – 80ºC to the dry tea leaves
  • The leaves can be used 2-3 times.

1st brew: 1 min and 30 sec.

2nd + 3rd brew: 30-40 sec
