Kukicha, stem and leaf

Kukicha, meaning twig tea in English, is a mixture of the twigs and leaves from the tea bush Camellia Sinensis.

It has a unique taste because of its use of twigs and stems which are rarely used in the manufacture of other teas, where only leaves are used.

Kukicha has a mild nutty flavour and light sweetness. What characterises this tea most is a long and soft aftertaste.

This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seicha in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.

Ingredients: green tea.

Kukicha is best brewed in a preheated teapot so that you can pour water on the leaves again and make fresh extracts.

  • Use 1 tsp. (2-3 grams) tea per cup (200ml)
  • Pour the water over the leaves at 75-80ºc
  • Let the tea brew for 1 minute.

For the second brew let the tea draw for ½ min

The third brew approx. 2 minutes.

When serving, alternately pour between the cups to mix the contents.
