Genmaicha, saga no yuki, with roasted brown rice

A Japanese green tea that has a more rustic look after the tea leaves have been toasted over charcoal.

Genmaicha is the Japanese name for a green tea with roasted rice grains. This tea contains brown rice, which gives a nice nutty aftertaste, and popped white rice that makes the tea look nice. It is very popular in Japan and a good tea to enjoy with food. In addition, Genmaicha is very suitable for drinking cold.

This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seicha in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.

Genmaicha should be brewed in a small teapot or directly in a glass. Remove the kettle as soon as the water begins to boil. Use 2-3 grams per. cup (200ml) and pour the water over when it has cooled a little (80-85 degrees).

Let the tea draw for 3-4 minutes and serve it when the desired strength is achieved. The tea leaves can be reused 2-3 times with gradually extended draw time.
